FAQ

  • Q: WHAT IS YOUTH RUSH?

    A: Youth Rush is a summer canvassing program! We go door-to-door distributing Christian literature on a donation basis.

 

  • Q: HOW LONG IS YOUTH RUSH?

    A: 10 weeks. It usually begins in late May and ends in mid-August.

 

  • Q: IF I LIVE NEARBY, CAN I GO HOME?

    A: All students must stay at the church with their assigned program for the entire duration of the program. Students may return home for a “home leave” weekend in the middle of the summer (between weeks 5 and 6).

 

  • Q: WHAT IS THE WEEKLY SCHEDULE?

    A: We work Sunday–Thursday with Friday and Saturday off.

 

  • Q: HOW WILL I BE PAID?

    A: Students earn a 35% commission, plus a 15% retroactive commission bonus after completing all 10 weeks of the program. Checks will arrive at their designated locations 2-4 weeks after the completion of the summer.

  • Q: HOW DO I GET A MATCHING SCHOLARSHIP?

    A: Scholarships are matched by the educational institution you are attending. Contact your school for more details.

  • Q: I ATTEND A NON-SDA SCHOOL. CAN I STILL RECEIVE A SUMMER SCHOLARSHIP?

    A: Yes, you will still receive your full earnings even if you decide to attend a non-SDA school. However, certain SDA schools provide a matching scholarship in addition to your canvassing earnings.

 

  • Q: WHAT ABOUT POCKET MONEY?

    A: Students can elect to receive a “pay advance” on Fridays. Pay advances are subtracted from the student’s final earnings and are discouraged unless necessary.

  • Q:WHO ORGANIZES YOUTH RUSH?

    A: Youth Rush is a collaborative effort between the LAKE UNION, SOULS West Bible College and the local conferences.

 

  • Q: MAY I REQUEST TO BE IN A CERTAIN PROGRAM/BE WITH MY FRIENDS?

    A: Yes, students may request a to be in a certain location. However, because of the complexities of program balancing (gender, age, experience, territory, etc.), we cannot guarantee that each request will be granted. (Hint: Early applicants get their requests more often!)

 

  • Q: WHAT DOCUMENTS WILL I NEED TO BRING TO THE PROGRAM IN ORDER TO VERIFY MY ELIGIBILITY FOR EMPLOYMENT IN THE UNITED STATES?

    A: The I-9, Employment Eligibility Authorization form explains the documents that are required.
